May photography competition results

Zoe Hodkinson

From woodland floors awash with bluebells to eye-catching images of the humble dandelion, we received some remarkable entries this month.

Spring brings with it new life, colour and energy! Despite the somewhat questionable weather, our photography competition participants still managed to capture some amazing ‘Spring Blooms’. We're thrilled to see so many people continuing to enter our competition and we hope you enjoyed snapping some of our beautiful local plant life.

After much deliberation, Zoe Hodkinson was selected as the winner of this month's competition.

Moss

Zoe Hodkinson

Our judge loved this image of luscious green moss on a stone wall and stated:

"This photo provides an emblematic representation of spring; this simple scene will be replicated right across our region. With its bright light and natural greenery, this image illustrates the simple joys we can all admire throughout spring."

Bee feeding on blossom

Cory Robinson

In second place is Cory Robinson. Our judge said:

"This detailed photograph highlights the complex beauty of one of our most beloved spring blooms, and how our pollinators rely upon such humble plants for their survival."

Bluebell

Nigel Barnes

Lastly, in third place is Nigel Barnes. Our judge loved this wildflower scene and said:

"The eye-catching lilac of the bluebell offset against the delicate white of the greater stitchwort makes this image really pop. Bluebells are a spring favourite which illuminate woodlands across our region for a short few weeks every year, and this natural spectacle is something everyone loves to observe."
