Cormorants at Seaforth

Jimmy McGrory

The winner for our under 16’s category is… Jimmy McGrory, aged 13!

These wonderful cormorants are a joy to see! Taken at Seaforth Nature Reserve, it is clear as to why this photograph captured the heart of our voters, its clear simplicity is enchanting. Our voters were really impressed with the composition of this image as it perfectly portrays the calming balance of the spring equinox.

One voter loved ‘the contrast between the birds, the water and sky is stunning and emphasises the beauty of the birds’. Whilst another added that the image ‘captures what looks like a romance between the birds, bringing an emotional story to the picture’.

Blue Tit and blossom at Brockholes

Peter Smith

The winner for our over 16’s category is... Peter Smith!

This beautiful blue tit surrounded by blossom beautifully depicts the signs of spring. We really like how he has blurred the background as it draws the viewers’ attention to focus on the star of the show, the bluetit.

Our voters agreed and found this photograph to be a ‘lovely, detailed combination of a blue tit, blossom and lichen’ and a ‘Great composition with a real focus on spring with the blossom’.

Both these images are incredible, however then can be only one overall winner.

The overall winner is Jimmy McGrory!

A huge thank you to everyone who sent in their wonderful images this month! The overall winner will be contacted via email.
