Photography Competition Results – July 2024

Paul Molloy

The theme for July’s competition was ‘garden wildlife’ and the results are spectacular.

Our gardens are full of wildlife! From the enchanting flora and fauna to the chirping birds and roaming mammals, there is so much for us to see from the comfort of our own homes.

This month we wanted to see the incredible wildlife that can be found in your gardens, and you most certainly did not disappoint. From goldfinches, robins and magpies, to hedgehogs, foxes and so many more wonderful creatures, the entries this month were outstanding.

Unfortunately, our judges can only pick one winner, a task that was extremely difficult this month as we received so many amazing entries.

The winner of July’s photography competition is… Carl Abbott!

'The Thinker' Goldfinch

Carl Abbott

Our judges loved this beautiful image. The way that he has captured the gorgeous colours of this Goldfinch is incredible. The stance of this beautiful bird really adds to the composition of this image as it bows its beautiful head, highlighting the beautiful red markings that are so distinctive to this incredible bird.

The Hedgehog

Peter Risley

Second place goes to Peter Risley and his beautiful Hedgehog photograph. The detail in this photograph is amazing. The way in which he has captured this garden favourite, from its delightful button nose to the ombre-brown spikes that coat its body, is wonderful to see.

Garden Frog

Paul Molloy

Finally, in third place we have this attractive little garden frog taken by Paul Molloy. Our judges thought that this image fit our theme of ‘Garden Wildlife’ perfectly. The way that the light illuminates the path just catching the frog in the foreground, which camouflages perfectly into the green of the garden, is wonderful.

A huge thank you to everyone who sent in their wonderful images! To see all the incredible entries we received, please take a look at the album below. The winner will be contacted via email with details of how to redeem their £100 optics voucher prize.
