January is a wonderful time! As we all reset for a new year, the wildlife around us continues to thrive, even in the ever-changing weather that we have experienced this month.

Our theme for January was ‘Mammal Magic,’ and we received some truly magical entries. Roe deer, badgers, sheep, foxes, hares and even a mouse; these are just a few of the wonderful mammals that this month’s photographers have captured beautifully.

Some of these mammals clearly love the attention and are happily posing for the camera, whereas others are harder to spot as they hide away from prying eyes, only to emerge slightly for their photo opportunity.

February’s competition is currently open and has the theme of ‘Winter Birds’. As per 2021 rule changes, photographs can be taken anywhere in the Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside region and are not limited to Lancashire Wildlife Trust nature reserves.
