Becka Colley-Foster - Bluebells in Dean Wood

Once again, we have been overwhelmed with the number of stunning photographs you have sent us during yet another month of Covid-19 lockdown.

We are now into our second month of lockdown photography competition, where we have been asking you to send us your photos from your homes, gardens and local walks, rather than on our nature reserves as the original rules state.

With the theme of 'Spring Blooms' there was a huge selection of photographs, from budding close up shots, stunning meadow views, colourful garden flowers, and so much more. We are thrilled to see so many of you getting involved and we hope you are enjoying photographing your beautiful blooms.

Out of the brilliant 74 entires, and after much deliberation, Becka Colley-Foster's, Bluebells in Dean Wood took the first place spot.

Our judge said: "Bluebells really are so beautiful, and this is a wonderful photograph to show them in their true light. Bluebells are synonymous with Spring, and the lighting makes me think of hope, which we are all wishing for at the moment! The overall image is delightful to look at and is enough to lift the spirits of someone struggling during this difficult time. Nice shot!"

Dandelion Clock

Simon Lundbeck - Raindrops on Dandelion Clock

In second place is Simon Lundbeck with Raindrops on Dandelion clock. Our judge said: "Although not as spring-like as other photographs, this one has amazing detail and is a reminder of being a child, having fun blowing the seeds away. The stillness and delicate nature of this photograph makes it so beautiful to look at, and the skill required to produce such a photograph is very advanced. A generally stunning photograph, thank you."

Cottongrass - Little Woolden Moss

Little Woolden Moss is a rare fragment on lowland raised peat bog in Greater Manchester and a former peat extraction site - Tim Prevett

Rounding off the top three is Tim Prevett's Cottograss on Little Woolden Moss. Our judge commented: "Living locally to Little Woolden Moss, Tim managed to visit the reserve during lockdown to take some truly beautiful photos of the cottongrass there. It's definitely not easy to capture such a beautiful landscape and to feel like you are there in person, but Tim has done a wonderful job and it is wonderful to see this beautiful flower in bloom."

The winner will be contacted via email with details on how to redeem their £100 optics voucher prize. Additionally, all winner’s photos will be displayed within our visitor centres, for everyone to see.
