Photography Competition Results – July 2023

Nigel Barnes

The amount of wildlife that we see all around at this time of year is incredible!

For our photography competition this month we are taking a look into the incredible wildlife that can be found thriving in our very own gardens, under the theme of ‘Garden Wildlife’.

Bees collecting nectar, insects perched on colourful blooms, foxes playful hiding and hedgehogs looking for food, are just some on the incredible wildlife sightings that can be found in gardens across the county. As always, the images we received this month from our incredible photographers were just incredible.

Unfortunately, our judges can only pick one winner, a task that was extremely difficult this month as we received so many amazing entries. However, there can be only one winner.

We are delighted to announce that the winner for July’s photography competition is… Nigel Barnes!

Vole out of the Hole

Nigel Barnes

This fantastic image titled ‘Vole out of the Hole’ captures this stunning little vole perfectly! Our judges loved the way he captured the details of this beautiful mammal’s fur, as it has a little snack in Nigel’s garden. We love how the Vole is looking directly at the camera, giving the viewer a fantastic opportunity to see its little nose and long whiskers.

Beetle about to take off

Michaela Moville

Second place goes to Michaela Moville with her beautiful image of a beetle, in the process of taking off. Our judges loved the way she captured this action shot of the beetle about to fly off with such clarity. The detail if the wings is just incredible!

Young Fox

Peter Risley

Finally, third place goes to Peter Risley with his incredible image of a young fox exploring his garden. We loved how Peter was able to capture this young fox as it looks directly at the camera, with such a playful look on it’s face.

A huge thank you to everyone who sent in their wonderful images! The winner will be contacted via email with details of how to redeem their £100 optics voucher prize.
