Late last year, we were sorry to lose a very valuable member of the team at Brockholes Nature Reserve.

Tony Field had worked in maintenance all his life and in recent years, we were lucky enough to enjoy his hard work, dedication and perhaps most of all, his smile, in what he described as the ‘best job he ever had’ as a Maintenance Team Member at Brockholes.

As a lasting tribute to our friend and colleague, an engraved leaf was placed on our new Memory Tree, a way to remember a special day, or the life of a loved one.

Tony’s wife, Eileen, came to Brockholes, along with her sister, and her husband, Stephen Niven, Lancashire Wildlife Trust Trustee, and many of Tony’s friends and colleagues, congregated around the Memory Tree to mark the occasion.

After a speech from Stephen, the leaf was placed on the tree, and secured by friends and family. The gold leaf will remain on the Memory Tree, which is located in the foyer of the Kestrel Kitchen at Brockholes.

The many generous donations given in Tony’s memory will be invested accordingly within the maintenance team at Brockholes.
