Thanks to players of People's Postcode Lottery

People's Postcode Lottery is a charity lottery which raises vital funding to support a huge range of good causes, including our Wildlife Trust! We have received generous support from players of People's Postcode Lottery since 2014, which has allowed us to connect children of all ages and backgrounds to wildlife through outdoor education; improve peoples' mental health through nature; restore precious wild places and more.

Forest School

We have worked with players of People’s Postcode Lottery since March 2015 to bring Forest School outdoor learning to inner city schoolchildren and train their teachers as accredited Forest School leaders.

In 2017, thanks to support from players of People's Postcode Lottery, we were able to expand our Forest School project into Liverpool, while in 2019 we were able to bring our popular pre-school Nature Tots programme to both Liverpool and Manchester. We have also worked closely with staff from Alder Hey Children's Hospital to introduce Forest School as a form of therapy for patients accessing their Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).

In 2020, our Forest School Projects worked with even more schools in Liverpool and Manchester, and continue to offer pre-school Nature Tots sessions to local communities in both cities.

Carbon footprint reduction

Without players of People's Postcode Lottery, we wouldn't have been able to conduct a full review of our carbon footprint as a charity, and write a strategy to reduce our carbon emissions.

Where the funding goes

Players of People's Postcode Lottery support our work with wildlife, wild landscapes and local communities. The Wildlife Trusts Council decides how to allocate the funding in order to have the greatest impact for wildlife, including giving grants to individual Wildlife Trusts to support our shared mission to restore nature on land and at sea and bring people closer to nature.

Funding raised by players of People's Postcode Lottery helps to give children and young people amazing opportunities to connect with nature through Forest School, Nature Tots and other outdoor learning and play sessions provided by their local Wildlife Trust. These programmes take place in urban areas where children would otherwise have few opportunities to spend time in nature. The funding also supports our vital work to protect special wild places, stand up for our seas and inspire people to take action for wildlife.
