Prestwich and Whitefield Green Social Prescribing

Green Social Prescribing is an approach that connects people to nature-based activities, groups, and services in the community to meet the practical, social and emotional needs that affect our health and wellbeing.

Our health can be affected by many things that doctors or medicine alone cannot treat. Circumstances such as loneliness, financial pressures, poor housing, employment issues and many more can put a strain on our wellbeing, contributing to poor mental and physical health.

Social prescribing can help change these circumstances by connecting people to non-medical support rooted in the community.

Feel better, live better

Types of social prescribing include:

  • Be More Social: Friendship, trust, fun, and local activities

  • Get Active: Nature, exercise, sports, dance, and walking

  • Stay Healthy: Volunteering, nutrition, and managing conditions

  • Live Independently: Home support, mobility, and life changes

  • Boost Mental Wellbeing: Community programmes and personal goals

  • Financial Support: Benefits, debt, housing, and employment advice

What is Green Social Prescribing?

At it's core it works on the same principles as social prescribing, but with a focus on green activity.

Getting people connected to natural, green spaces is really important for our mental and physical health and wellbeing.
