About the event

Come along to Lunt Meadows on Saturday 13th July for a BioBlitz, where we will attempt to record as many plant and animals on the nature reserve as possible in one day.

The event will feature a variety of interactive stalls and activities ran by the Lunt Meadows team and brilliant wildlife experts, including:

  • Moth trapping 9am
  • Small mammal surveys 9am and 4pm
  • Guided bird walks 10am and 1pm
  • Wildflower identification workshops 10am and 1pm
  • Pond dipping with Mersey Rivers Trust, a free drop in activity from 11am - 2.45pm
  • Dragonfly transect survey with Merseyside Biobank 10.30am onwards
  • Sweep netting for invertebrates 11.30am
  • Bat walk 9pm (see separate tickets for this walk here

Stalls will be up from 11am - 3pm and activities will be running throughout the day, beginning at 9am. Please book a general admission ticket if you would like to attend so we have an idea of numbers, alongside tickets for any specific activities if you are interested, as places will be limited. Some activities will be repeated through the day. If you are taking part in a guided activity e.g. a bird walk or small mammal surveying, please do not bring your dog as they will distress the wildlife and make it less likely for us to see anything close up.

We will be using the iNaturalist app that can be downloaded for free in the Google Play and App Store but we will also have paper recordings for those unable to download the app.

As the event will be taking place outdoors, please dress for the weather. We recommend walking boots or even wellies. Additionally, if you are staying on the reserve for a while bring some refreshments along.

Please note that the walks and wildflower workshops do require you to have suitable mobility as you will be walking around the reserve.

Dogs

On a lead

Dogs are welcome on Lunt Meadows but must be on a lead for the protection of wildlife and livestock. Please be mindful of other site users who may not be familiar with dogs. If you are taking part in a guided activity e.g. bird walk or small mammal surveying, please do not bring your dog as they will spook the wildlife and make it less likely for us to see anything close up.
