Wildlife and nature has inspired us for many generations, with many artists using the natural world to hone their creativity to create wonderful breath taking art.
Taking time out in nature is one of the key elements for us as humans, to relax, restore and recharge. Painting, drawing and crafting is another activity which allows us to recalibrate. Put those two things together and we find ourselves immersed in a state of wonder, clarity and clear focus, with creativity and imaginations running freely.
The Lancashire Wildlife Trust has provided a great backdrop for resident artists, and for those further afield. Our rolling hills, rocky shores, ancient woodlands and wetlands help to create a fascinating mosaic of colour, smells, textures, and sound; the perfect combination to inspire and release creativity.
The wildlife which can be found across the region is testament to the trust’s work of 60 years, and without realising it we use wildlife as a form of art in our everyday lives, such as beautiful paintings we hang on our walls, to designs we us on our fabrics, cushion covers, curtains, clothes and pottery.
As the trust turns 60 this year we are going to celebrate the creativity of our supporters and artists by hosting our very own art exhibition at Brockholes Nature Reserve in September and we want you to send in your artwork to help us capture the love for wildlife and the natural world.
There are 5 categories to choose from:
Urban Wildlife, Wildlife on the coast, Wildlife on reserves, People in Wildlife and Wild Scenery.
Entries can be of any medium; paintings, drawings, 3D, and sculptures. Entry fee is £10 for one category.
All the work displayed will be publicly judged and there will be the chance to be featured in our Winter Lapwing Magazine.
I look forward to welcoming you to the exhibition in September.
