In truth it was the sight of a large flock of gulls following a land-based trawler in the form of a tractor ploughing a field. This was to be my inland sea image as I was swept along by a refreshing westerly wind.
Ahh those seaside holidays, when every effort was made to get out onto that beach in spite of the rain. And today that spirit took me further west in the driving rain.
An oystercatcher a bird which often breeds inland these days, deserting the now busy shorelines, then gave me my wading bird to add to my seascape.
I even noted a set of sails on the murky horizon, well a wind turbine in truth but this imagination had to be fed as the sky ‘sea’-sawed (I know it should be spelt ‘see) between blustery rain and sunshine.
A more settled period of sunshine then assured me that it was the right decision to wander this inland beach as it brought out a large skipper butterfly.
I think you might guess the next tenuous connection betwixt land and sea, yes, this captain of flight assured me that my imagination had landed me safely on the shore of another day in the wild.
